About the Author
Stephen J. Pavlidis has been cruising the islands of The Bahamas and Caribbean aboard his 40-foot cutter, IV Play, since 1989. In 1993, he met Ray Darville, then the Warden of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, who drew Steve into a working relationship as a volunteer Deputy Warden. In this role Steve quickly gained an intimate knowledge of the waters of the Park and the Exuma Cays Realizing that the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park deserved a bit more recognition than is given in even the best guides to the area, Steve and Ray produced A Cruising Guide to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. The favorable response to that publication led to the publication of The Exuma Guide in 1995, covering the entire Exumas island chain in addition to the Park. The Exuma Guide, has been thoroughly updated for this new edition. Steve has resurveyed the region, updated all the information, and offers many new aerial photos and charts to assist you in navigation. Steve s books are different than most other cruising guides in some very signigicant ways. All of the charts in Steve s books were created using data personally collected while visiting each area using a computerized system that interfaces GPS and depth soundings.

Anyone who's sailed off shore has had his share of close calls.... this book is a must read for anyone who intends to sail thru the Bahama's and into the Exuma's.... GPS longitude and latitudes, maps, course headings, safe anchorages, rocks, sandbars, areas to avoid, restaurants, sites to see, sailing strategies, where to get water, great places to snorkel... all this valuable and life saving knowledge is in this book.
even if you don't get there, get this book! very informative, great photos and charts. lots of useful info. i would not go there without this book and i have had quite a few bahamas' guide books. you should also get pavlidis' latest guides to the northern and southern bahamas as well. worth every penny!
There is a lot of good info on this book, however, there is a lot of outdated info as well. This leaves the reader having to decide what is valid or not. I still recommend it, but not as an authority on the area. Make sure you get the Explorer Charts to use as the authority on the area.
Looks like a great guide with lots of detail like approaches, GPS coordinates, and local info. I'll update my review when I go to the Exumas this winter.

This guide is a wonderful overview of the Islands and towns within them. It serves as a fantastically accurate guide, but also as a reference for any trip you may have taken and want to preserve the memories with pictures and video.
Very useful and detailed. I've used the Yachtsman's guide in the past but Pavlidis has much more information on the Exumas
Update of previous edition. Invaluable for cruising Exumas. Just what we expected. Arrived when promised in perfect condition.Current edition of book is hard to find elsewhere but not here.
