Diary of a Mad First Lady was a very enjoyable read. I have read books that involved crazy women, but Daphne was the crazinest of all. The things she did, lawd have mercy. You have to read it to find out....it will leave your mouth wide opened.I highly recommend this book and I read the excerpt of The Story of First Lady Lisa Hodges that was at the end of the book. My question is, when is this book coming out? I can't wait to get my hands on it!!!!

First time I have read book by this author, I will say she didn't disappoint... I gave it 4 stars do to noooo book is perfect....I thought it gave too much in the beginning but the author worked it out and I would recommend this book

At first I thought I was reading a sequel but I guess not. I wish I knew the details of everything the other had previously done.One thing I did not like was the pastor being so wishy washy. What kind of husband tells another woman that his wife is across the streeet climbing the walls because of her? He should have had his wife's back more than he did. All in all it is a good storyl

I enjoyed reading Diary of a Mad First Lady, however, I was disappointed at the end. I think the author rushed the ending of this book. It seemed as if she did not take the time to develop the conclusion and one incident just ran until the next. The beginning of the novel was better than the end.

I really did not feel this book. I mean nothing stuck out to me no excitememt it was so predictable. What I dont know is why The first lady never did a back ground check on her nemisis sister is beyond me. I cant believe the things a person will do to get a man that havent shown one once of lust for you is beyond me. I hope the next book is more enjoying.

Either this author really has a wild imagination or she has the inside scoop on someone's crazy life. This is my first book by this lady and it was a really exciting read. She is definitely going to be added to my favourite authors list if she continues to write like this.

Yes, I loved this book and i read it in a one sitting because I could not wait to get to the end and I was not disappointed. You will not be disappoint, particularly with the end. I recommend you read about this first lady cause she don't play.

Being a pastor's wife, I can relate to Michelle's delimma. It's amazing how women see their pastor as a powerful man. Every time I had to stop reading to get something done, I couldn't wait to get back to it. The characters are so real. I can see each person. This a good read for any pastor's wife and for any woman in general. Please make a movie out of this work! I plan to read anything I can find by Ms. Washington.

I am happy to announce that I recently got engaged! (I know- I know- squee!). I felt like the author clearly knew what they were talking about and laid out everything in a way that even nervous little 23-year-old fiances like myself could understand.The book is packed with helpful information and really did make me a lot more confident about ensuring my 'big day' was a total success. The book covered everything I'd been worried about including engagement announcements and parties, budgeting the wedding, and planning the wedding. The book was so thorough in all of its information that I never felt like I'd finished reading something but still had questions. I also created my own budget here and got an approximate clear picture on the expenses.All your dilemma and tension will come to a halt, once you read this book and utilize it in a right way. There is some fantastic information included about budgeting and I loved the chapter on honeymoon planning because that was my favorite part of the whole experience. Can't recommend this one enough.

This book transcended all of my expectations. Beyond dealing with severe health issues and then Ta-Da Healed, the book revealed so much more. Some would view illness and pain as a punishment of sorts from on High, but our illnesses and pain can polish us and make us beings that are even more capable of giving and receiving Divine Love.Julie Hanft shares her wisdom here and it's a testament about the power of love. The love of a devoted husband, the love of family, the love of God, Spirit. I came away a stronger, better man after reading this book.Life has it's moments and they obviously are not all bliss. You read this book and the realization hits you: No matter how difficult the challenges may be, our ability to cope can be just as powerful.

It has been wonderful to connect with Julie after all these years. She was a member of the same church I grew up in, thus I knew her at the time she talks about at the beginning of her book. I also had a great relationship with the pastors of the church she refers to as the story unfolds. I have been a pastor for over 30 years, serving churches in Southern California as well as in Fresno, California. I am currently Lead Chaplain for the VA Central California Health Care System and a writer for Worship Outlet, a resource for pastors and worship leaders. I have known Julie since she was in high school. I recommend her book to any seeking consolation in the midst of difficult times. Her book is filled with pathos, hard lessons, resilience, and faithfulness. It is a compelling story!

I heard about this book on a website for lupus patients. The experiences in this book--the suffering and the pain--resonated with me greatly. I cried when I read it. I was a fit, healthy young adult when I was diagnosed with lupus. In my case, I was diagnosed in 2016 and experienced kidney failure, heart failure, and a serious infection that almost killed me. I can no longer work and cannot have children due to this disease. I struggle with severe depression and sometimes ask God, "Why is this world so full of suffering?" In the Bible, God tells us, "I will bring them through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them:" (Zechariah 13:9) These human bodies are fallen and this world is merely a training ground for eternity. God brings us through trials to make us stronger and to draw us closer to Him. We are His children and He loves us. Lupus may be incurable, but God's children have assurance that all earthy suffering is only temporary.

I read this book in one evening, I could not put it down. I didnt know much about lupus before reading, just had a vague understanding that there were many different medical issues with this disease. I am a heathy person but learned to slow down in judging others situation and realized how blessed I really am. Thanks for opening my eyes and my heart!

This book took a lot of Bravery for this person to bare her soul and share her life with us. Her struggling through Life with this disease of Lupusis extraordinary! She surely shows through her writing how she rose above her pain. What a Positive message to give others in their own struggleswith any disease or chronic pain. Just as a book itself, I loved reading it, it grabs your attention. I will read it again & Tell others. Thank You!

Anyone who lives with a chronic illness has an interesting story to tell. From getting the actual diagnosis (which often takes many years and several doctors), to dealing with the uncertainty every single day becomes, their journey along the chronic path always offer something to learn from. Julie takes us back to her teen years and explains major life events and her path to her eventual Lupus diagnosis. Not only was her path full of ups and downs, she offers amazing tidbits of advice through the book that made me have a few ah ha moments. I appreciate that through the hardest times, she never loses her faith. This is an inspiring book and I feel anyone who suffers from a chronic illness will find strength in her words.

First I want to say that I have SLE as well. I am very proud of this person for having the bravery to write a book with so much honesty and truth. I only have it 3 stars because its my opinion she has a wonderful skeleton...just needs more fleshing. And...there were some grammar issues that her publisher should have caught, but that's not her fault. I only wish there were more fleshing.

Lane brings life to the dry topics of debt, tariffs, taxes, and banks, and he’s not above calling participants to account when he thinks criticism is warranted. His only error is holding figures of the past to today’s standards. Otherwise, this is first-rate history rendered with unusual clarity and verve.

CARL LANE is professor of history at Felician College in New Jersey. He received his Ph.D. in history from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His articles have appeared in William and Mary Quarterly, Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, and other publications. His article “The Elimination of the National Debt in 1835 and the Meaning of Jacksonian Democracy” in Essays in Economic and Business History won that journal’s James Soltow Award. He and his wife live in Montclair, New Jersey.

This terrific book proves that brilliant historians don't all come out of Harvard and Yale. Carl Lane, professor of history at Felician College in New Jersey, has taken seemingly unrelated controversies of the Jacksonian Era and unified them under one theoretical umbrella - namely that all of them were intimately connected by President Andrew Jackson's single-minded drive to eliminate that national debt by 1835. Unlike the turgid prose of most academics, Dr. Lane's writing is clear and straightforward.If you want to know how in the world the sale of public lands, high protective tariffs, the Nullification Crisis (scary preview of the Civil War) and Jackson's attack on the Bank of the United States could ever be related, pick up and enjoy "A Nation Wholly Free."

This book takes a close look at a nearly forgotten incident in American History: the nation's struggle to pay off the enormous debt from the American Revolution and the War of 1812, and the party politics that the success of this effort spawned. Highly recommended if you are interested in the Jacksonian Age or the history of the National Debt.

This book should be required reading for all political leaders including our President and every member of congress!!!!!!

I have yet to read it, however, after my other readings, this is definitely next in line. The interest that people should take on this particular topic, would be very enlightening, and with the history course I just took, it was the main topic that came to mind on the establishment of this country. Book is in excellent condition and looks great in my library already. Showed up right on time and as expected. Great job bookbyte.

I am always impress when an author picks out a specific point of time to focus on the lessons learned. Too many history books cover a broad subject matter and gloss over the events but not this one. This books single focus is the describe what the politics were that lead up to the nation being debt free and it quickly fades into the events that put us into debt once and for all. I'm not sure I agree with the author's politics that the country appears to be reducing the debt but the book is a very interesting and quick read. I highly recommend it !!!

I recommend it to anyone who wants to look inside the world of a genuine genius. Inside that world they will discover insights about science, music, societal values, the educational system, and much more, while simultaneously skewering pompous blowhards who feel superior to others due to education or upbringing.Truly Feynman was a genius for the masses; this is my favorite of his books, but I recommend them all.

This is an extremely entertaining and often insightful collection by Nobel physicist Richard Feynman drawn from slices of his life experiences. Some might believe that the telling of a physicist’s life would be droll fare for anyone other than a fellow scientist, but in this instance, nothing could be further from the truth.Dr. Feynman’s delight with life shines through everything--nothing gets him down for long. The reasons for this attitude are his ever-present compulsion to learn and discover, his urge to follow his insatiable curiosity (about everything!) wherever it might lead, his willingness to simply state whatever he thinks when asked, and his refusal to always take life so seriously. It is evident that Dr. Feynman has achieved what many can only dream of--living a meaningful and accomplished life while still being able to find absolute joy and fun in so much of how we spend that life.It’s hard to imagine anyone that would not find this an interesting and enjoyable read. Although Dr. Feynman is a physicist, this is not a science book, and the reader really needs nothing in the way of a scientific background to fully enjoy it.The book is divided into five parts corresponding to different parts of the author’s life. Within each part, the stories themselves are rarely more than half a dozen pages long, and none depend on the others. We are not often blessed with persons of the amazing intelligence of Richard Feynman. Even someone with just a smattering of science and math can appreciate this Nobel Prize winning, bongo drum playing, safe cracking denizen of the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. Here was a man of superior intellect who could yet relate to the world around him and who had a curious interest in many facets of human endeavor. That is coupled with obvious tenderness toward his first wife, who dies of TB during the Manhattan Project. Even as Feynman writes about that in tightlipped fashion, his deep love for her and sorrow for the loss comes through.The book is not tightly organized but it is smartly written. Guys like Einstein, Feynman, Carl Sagan will all wrestle from time to time with the non-scientific question of what preceded the Big Bang, if only by asking fleetingly if there is some principle of causation behind it all. Obviously I don't know if God exists or what it all means. But it is hard for me to think that such a towering intellect encased in such a lovely witty and wise person results from mere accident. I'll go no further.

Feynman is a genius. The entire book is full of charming, intelligent, and surprisingly inspiring stories about the "curious character" that was the late, great Richard Feynman.The last chapter is something else entirely: an entire philosophy and ethos of scientific thought rolled into a few pages. I found Feynman's principles and ideals for scientific integrity almost unbelievably precious: to never compromise on experimentation, to never make claims you can't back up with hard evidence, and most importantly, to never fool yourself into thinking that you're more right than you actually are.Although only the scientifically or mathematically trained will understand much about Feynman's actual work, his life philosophy and its implications are something that everyone can benefit from. The world would be a better place if each of us tried to replicate just a little of his intellectual integrity. I almost didn't believe such beautiful, pure intellectual idealism wasn't possible until I read this book.

Richard Feynman is the exact brand of aloof, irreverent, genius that the world needs, at any and every time. This casual telling of myriad anecdotes from Feynman's life is precious and airy, even when dealing with early nuclear secrets, death, and other heavy topics. The finest aspect of the book is its thickness; in just over 100 pages Doi essentially summarises everything in Polymer Dynamics. In some sense the book is meant as a bridge between the graduate level courses on Polymer Dynamics/Physics and book: The Theory of Polymer Dynamics and hence is assessible only with some background on basics. Nevertheless its serves its purpose pretty well.

Reading the reviews for Theory of Polymer Dynamics, I purchased this book and it is indeed a great introduction to polymer physics.

It's short and to the point, explaining all the fundamentals needed to progress in this field.

Firstly, this book is NOT for someone wanting an introduction to polymer science. There is little here that would be of use in a first course in polymers. The book is very slim (a scarce 113 pages), divided into five chapters covering individual polymer chains, melts, gels, dynamics in dilute solutions, and finally dynamics in the entanglement regime. The intense detail of Doi and Edwards is left out but the level of mathematical description is comparable. Strongly recommended as an introduction to polymer physics, especially because it covers a lot of important issues in a very brief, easy-to-understand, but rigorous fashion.

I have an extensive collection of Soviet posters and consider this book a good, even seminal, work on the subject, but the writing is horribly dull and mostly made of the well-nigh incomprehensible academic goop that made the idea of graduate school so unappealing. If you are interested in Soviet posters or propaganda posters as a general matter you would do better with "Persuasive Images" or any of several commercial sites that sell original posters on the net. This is not a general interest book and those looking for an interest collection of posters to view would do better elsewhere.What's worse, though, is that the author describes in great detail about posters not even pictured in the book. Since these posters are not in general circulation, the author has done a great disservice by not providing more representations of the works which she discusses.Still, it does have some interesting information about Soviet poster art, if you can manage to get through the bootstrap proto-feminist garbage about Soviet women...

I like most writings in Sociology. Bonnells book does not disappoint, I would highly recommend this book.

Well researched and very interesting.

The scholarship is quite new for Westerners but is more common sense for those with the joy of life under Communism. That does not detract from the pioneering nature of her study though.The real stars of the book are the posters themselves. For however much ink has been spilled describing them, few academics actually give pictures of them when discussing them. Collections of propaganda posters do exist but even the Russian ones are far from complete but even the collections sold in Moscow gift stores are more complete than this.That is not surprising nor should it be taken too negatively, the author can only discuss so much in a sufficient level of detail. The book may be broken down into several key themes. These would be import and nature of propaganda posters in a time where even newspapers were a luxury. The early ideological and artistic influences on the posters designed is quite interesting but sadly is only partially covered in favor of analyzing the works from a sociological perspective emphasizing the distinctions between the Bolshevik Intelligentsia, the Urban audiences, and the rural audiences.This last element is the best presented. The differences in time, relative literacy, symbolism, and political influences and ideological priority between rural areas and the urban workers is massive in considering how propaganda was framed (literally!) and to what it was oriented. Posters displaying peasants were not always directed towards the rural population and the occasional gaffs of the propaganda artists are instructive as well.The next focus is on the cementing of Communist power and the efforts to reach out to the peasantry (which foundered in the face of actual harsh and cruel policies but was nonetheless in name) to broaden the scope and effectiveness of indoctrination efforts. The coverage of wartime posters is slightly less detailed but she finds time to talk more about the actual artists of the time than in earlier sections. The subject of the Postwar "High Stalinism" is interesting but is sadly left relatively unfulfilled.The writing style has been described negatively by one reviewer and defended by another. The problem is two-fold. One is the need to explain a number of concepts that could have been done in English but to do so does not allow the author to show off her knowledge of Russian. The second is the Sociological approach she uses that comes from an academic culture hat is jargon-ridden. It has been said (often more in jest) that academics will not use one word when ten will do. There is some truth to it but most of the opaqueness has been clarified and contracted in the earlier sections. The editing seems to be poorer in the late-middle and the end as she becomes more needlessly verbose in it.This is a valuable secondary source for the student and casual researcher alike. Her analysis is short-reaching but still quite valuable in understanding this and some ideological facets of the Soviet Union in the time period. It is not always an enjoyable read given her writing style but the information is worth the occasional desire to claw out one's eyes at the excessive writing. (Humorous quote but not my own: "Excessive verbosity causes communicative ennui")This is worth the money for the first three chapters for almost anybody. Chapters four and six are going to be more interesting to students of the Soviet ideological changes and dull to anyone else.A dull read at times but fascinating one the sociological writing style is overcome.

I do not agree that this is a sociology of Soviet posters, in the sense that it is a "long range" cultural analysis of their meaning. I think that the book's highlight is exactly in drawing a connection between changes in artistic style and "short range" political events. So, in the early days of Soviet power- from Lenin's time down to collectivization - one has an Expressionistic, unreal style that tries, above all, to convince strikingly the viewer to support a given political "lime". After Stalin's consolidation as leader, one has a pseudo-realistic style praising the "actual" quality of living in the USSR, in order to obtain the passive acquiescence of the viewer. Very useful book. Can be used - with due guidance - at undergraduate level.

Iconography of Power is a must if you want to understand how Bolsheviks managed to seize the meaning of the revolution and mobilize the largely illiterate population in the name of Marxist philosophical abstractions, such as socialism or communism. They did it with pictures - using posters and other forms of visual political propaganda aimed at the population accustomed to venerating religious icons. This is a real history of Soviet visual propaganda written by a sociologist, who understands the way both art and power work in an actual political context. Indispensable in college courses dealing with Communist Russia as well as other regimes of its kind in the 20th century.

I respectfully disagree with the reviewer who found the writing dull. I found myself unable to put this book down, and plowed through the 300+ pages in only a few days. Bonnell is a very insightful and careful scholar, who does an excellent job decoding the visual language of Soviet propaganda posters. In the process, she transcends the apparent limitations of the subject matter: by the end of the book, I felt that I had gained a greater ability to understand visual symbolism in general, and also understood a great deal more about Soviet history and the process of collectivization.If you have any interest in contemporary Soviet history, I'd highly recommend this book. I hope that Victoria Bonnell continues her great scholarship!

This short book looks at the history of currencies for guidance on how long the U.S. dollar will remain the dominant global currency. Much of the history tells the story of how the world moved from the British pound as the international currency to the U.S. dollar. Using new data from the 1920's and 1930's, the authors show that this move happened faster and earlier than many people think. They disagree with the traditional view that dominant currencies will persist long after a country's economic dominance has declined. And they show that multiple reserve currencies can coexist. They expect the dollar will have rivals sooner than later.Although an academic book with some statistical analysis, the book is easy to read with short chapters that get to the point. Along the way, the authors explain why and how businesses and governments conduct currency transactions, which helps us understand what drives preferences in currencies. All of this work is relevant to thinking about changes that might take place if China overtakes the U.S. as the largest economy.

So if you're getting this book, here are somethings you will want to know.1) Before reading the chapter, look at the end of the chapter, before and after the problem section for "Further Information" and the Math lesson supplement. You need not understand it off the bat, but be familiar with what is there so that when you're going through the chapter, you can refer back to further information to make sense of the details.2) Don't expect a perfect walk-through for the math. You need to sit there with the paper and figure out the skipped steps. There are a lot of skipped steps. Some easy algebra, other harder differentials.3) When reading the units, you need to beware that you will see things like T/K. This doesn't mean Temperature/Kelvin or anything other that you want to make T to be, but rather saying it is temperature expressed in Kelvin. Seems like a silly way to do it, but once you get that it makes some problems easier.4) If you get the answer manual, It is only for odds and A parts of problems. Evens and B's are in the Purple version of the answer key and that is pain in the butt to find. So I recommend looking up the previous edition to this one (i.e 8th edition solution manual) and using that one. The problems will be found under different sections/numbering but after a little searching you'll find it. The editions don't change much. No surprise there though.5) Beware, there are questions awkwardly phrased. There is one in the first chapter regarding a tire. I solved it with my Gen Chem knowledge and it turned out to be wrong. As a class, we discussed it with our professor and found that in order to accurately answer the question, we need to define what is a tire- Meaning is it an isolated system, or not?6) Make sure to review your basic calculus. In particular partial differentials, cross derivatives, and the terminology. By terminology I mean, something like: You have an equation U. Express U as a function of T. Know what that means.This is a decent book, but DO NOT make the mistake of thinking it will hold your hand and walk you through a nice path of flowers. Take your time with it and do as much problems as you can as far as you can. If you can get your hand on both versions of the answer keys, I recommend doing all the problems with one, and then returning the next day and doing the B problems without the assistance of the answer key.GOOD LUCK!EDIT: I just remembered a quote I thought you all would enjoy, which I found to be true. Thermodynamics is a funny subject. The first time you go through it, you don't understand it at all. The second time you go through it, you think you understand it, except for one or two small points. The third time you go through it, you know you don't understand it, but by that time you are so used to it, so it doesn't bother you any more. -Arnold Sommerfeld

As you can see from the pictures, the ebook form of this textbook is horridly formatted, or at least was on my Kindle Fire HD 8. Lots of the pictures morph into blocks of color scale instead of actually displaying anything informative, and nearly all the calculus I saw as I leafed through the book had been broken up and strewn down the whole page. Nightmarishly difficult to read anything like that correctly, especially so when some of the characters used in the equations aren't actually supported by the Kindle, appearing instead as the error blocks you see in the screenshots. I spent a while playing with the font and page settings, trying to get all the text to align properly, but I never fixed it completely. Even if I had, the seemingly glitched images and missing math notation would have made this unreadable. Unacceptable state for a textbook on physical chemistry, even a digital one.

Same as the last edition, and the next edition, but the chapter orders have been switched. The problems will likely prepare you well for exams (assuming that you already have a decent chemistry foundation), so if you can solve them without looking at the solution guide too much you should do well enough. You will have to search for equations throughout chapters, for they will not all be summarized at he back of chapters. Error rate is acceptable, and less than some of Atkin's &c other texts. If you buy the solutions guide, you will find some errors, so you'll need to work in groups or will hopefully be able to utilize faculty office hours. Check your schools library for solution guide before you buy it.

This book is horribly written and full of grammar curiosities. If you doubt my review, please see the attached image of a corner of page 478 in this wretched book.Writing aside, the layout of the pages is awful. The columns are interrupted with bright color blocks of examples in an incoherent manner. The equations are strewn about the sections carelessly. The variables are not defined after equations are presented, leaving one to go digging through past chapters and sections to find the meaning of some Greek letter. I have wasted weeks of my life on such endeavors.The math sections come after the chapter, the questions asked are difficult and don't always get thoroughly discussed in the chapter, the main point of a section is almost always poorly defined. I have written to my professors about how horrid this book is. I feel like it was edited by a team of semi-literate chimpanzees (again, see the attached image if you don't believe me).Bottom line? This book is a piece of garbage. Buy the book by McQuarrie instead - that is a delight!

I needed this book for class and at first I was skeptical of buying the international version ( I wasn't sure if the edition would match), I ended up trusting one previous review of the book and bought it.Although I haven't compared the book word for word with the American edition, I think this book was excellent. The quality was great, and I am 99% sure that the book is exactly the same as the American edition. I actually liked that it was paperback (easier to carry) and this book had all, if not most, of the volumes in it. I paired this book with the American version of the solution manual and I had no problem whatsoever. I used this book for my class (in the US) and encountered no problems. In addition, this book (which has most volumes in it as compared to the American version that sometimes only has one volume) was a lot cheaper.

I ordered the international edition and saved quite a lot. It came quicker than I thought it would. I looked over and was very pleased. It will last the semester, and so far is the same as what others in class have purchased. The seller was courteous and made sure I received the book and was happy. Can't ask for much more...except a good grade for the class, hopefully.
