Minto wove together the requirements that logic imposes on the structure and format of argumentative and technical written works. If you try the Minto techniques you will find that not only is your writing more persuasive, but that her techniques transform how you express yourself verbally, and you become much more effective in person. It is a shame that this is no longer in print; it really is best to highlight the heck out of this book.

Very we'll written, very logical and made perfect sense. I'm not stating that the pyramid process is simple, but Minto's introduction to it is. I wish I had been taught this back in college. Diary of a Mad First Lady was a very enjoyable read. I have read books that involved crazy women, but Daphne was the crazinest of all. The things she did, lawd have mercy. You have to read it to find out....it will leave your mouth wide opened.I highly recommend this book and I read the excerpt of The Story of First Lady Lisa Hodges that was at the end of the book. My question is, when is this book coming out? I can't wait to get my hands on it!!!!

First time I have read book by this author, I will say she didn't disappoint... I gave it 4 stars do to noooo book is perfect....I thought it gave too much in the beginning but the author worked it out and I would recommend this book

At first I thought I was reading a sequel but I guess not. I wish I knew the details of everything the other had previously done.One thing I did not like was the pastor being so wishy washy. What kind of husband tells another woman that his wife is across the streeet climbing the walls because of her? He should have had his wife's back more than he did. All in all it is a good storyl

I enjoyed reading Diary of a Mad First Lady, however, I was disappointed at the end. I think the author rushed the ending of this book. It seemed as if she did not take the time to develop the conclusion and one incident just ran until the next. The beginning of the novel was better than the end.

I really did not feel this book. I mean nothing stuck out to me no excitememt it was so predictable. I cant believe the things a person will do to get a man that havent shown one once of lust for you is beyond me. I hope the next book is more enjoying.

Either this author really has a wild imagination or she has the inside scoop on someone's crazy life. This is my first book by this lady and it was a really exciting read. She is definitely going to be added to my favourite authors list if she continues to write like this.

Yes, I loved this book and i read it in a one sitting because I could not wait to get to the end and I was not disappointed. You will not be disappoint, particularly with the end. I recommend you read about this first lady cause she don't play.

Being a pastor's wife, I can relate to Michelle's delimma. It's amazing how women see their pastor as a powerful man. Every time I had to stop reading to get something done, I couldn't wait to get back to it. The characters are so real. I can see each person. This a good read for any pastor's wife and for any woman in general. Please make a movie out of this work! I plan to read anything I can find by Ms. Washington.

I am happy to announce that I recently got engaged! (I know- I know- squee!). I felt like the author clearly knew what they were talking about and laid out everything in a way that even nervous little 23-year-old fiances like myself could understand.The book is packed with helpful information and really did make me a lot more confident about ensuring my 'big day' was a total success. The book covered everything I'd been worried about including engagement announcements and parties, budgeting the wedding, and planning the wedding. The book was so thorough in all of its information that I never felt like I'd finished reading something but still had questions. It really answered all of my questions regarding the different steps and issues I was concerned about in terms of putting on that big white dress. I have a close friend who is getting married early next year and was thrilled to pick up author Karly Valentine's "The Essential Guide to Wedding Planning" for her. This is your one-stop guide to everything having to do with wedding planning. Whether it is setting the date, finding a venue, bridesmaids, catering, or a host of other details, there is guidance galore in here. There is some fantastic information included about budgeting and I loved the chapter on honeymoon planning because that was my favorite part of the whole experience. Can't recommend this one enough.

I've read a few other "guide" books out there, but this book really is all-inclusive and has been the best that I've come across. It has made things much more stress-free for me and I actually enjoy planning things out now. The timeline and budget portions were especially helpful for me since I had no idea even where to begin. This book transcended all of my expectations. Beyond dealing with severe health issues and then Ta-Da Healed, the book revealed so much more. Some would view illness and pain as a punishment of sorts from on High, but our illnesses and pain can polish us and make us beings that are even more capable of giving and receiving Divine Love.Julie Hanft shares her wisdom here and it's a testament about the power of love. The love of a devoted husband, the love of family, the love of God, Spirit. I came away a stronger, better man after reading this book.Life has it's moments and they obviously are not all bliss. You read this book and the realization hits you: No matter how difficult the challenges may be, our ability to cope can be just as powerful.

It has been wonderful to connect with Julie after all these years. She was a member of the same church I grew up in, thus I knew her at the time she talks about at the beginning of her book. I also had a great relationship with the pastors of the church she refers to as the story unfolds. I have been a pastor for over 30 years, serving churches in Southern California as well as in Fresno, California. I am currently Lead Chaplain for the VA Central California Health Care System and a writer for Worship Outlet, a resource for pastors and worship leaders. Rising Above the Pain is an engaging story of triumph over long-term pain and deep-seeded emotions. For anyone who suffers from lupus or a host of other chronic diseases or illnesses, you will be moved by Julie's endurance, courage, and faith. I highly recommend this book.

I have known Julie since she was in high school. I was one of the pastors at her church, have taught Pastoral Care at Luther Seminary, was the Director, Inpatient Services at The Betty Ford Center, served many churches, and am now the Director of Mount Olivet Lutheran Counseling Services, Minneapolis. I recommend her book to any seeking consolation in the midst of difficult times. Her book is filled with pathos, hard lessons, resilience, and faithfulness. It is a compelling story!

I heard about this book on a website for lupus patients. The experiences in this book--the suffering and the pain--resonated with me greatly. I cried when I read it. I was a fit, healthy young adult when I was diagnosed with lupus. In my case, I was diagnosed in 2016 and experienced kidney failure, heart failure, and a serious infection that almost killed me. I can no longer work and cannot have children due to this disease. I struggle with severe depression and sometimes ask God, "Why is this world so full of suffering?" In the Bible, God tells us, "I will bring them through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them:" (Zechariah 13:9) These human bodies are fallen and this world is merely a training ground for eternity. God brings us through trials to make us stronger and to draw us closer to Him. We are His children and He loves us. Lupus may be incurable, but God's children have assurance that all earthy suffering is only temporary.

I read this book in one evening, I could not put it down. I didnt know much about lupus before reading, just had a vague understanding that there were many different medical issues with this disease. I am a heathy person but learned to slow down in judging others situation and realized how blessed I really am. Thanks for opening my eyes and my heart!

This book took a lot of Bravery for this person to bare her soul and share her life with us. Her struggling through Life with this disease of Lupusis extraordinary! She surely shows through her writing how she rose above her pain. What a Positive message to give others in their own struggleswith any disease or chronic pain. Just as a book itself, I loved reading it, it grabs your attention. I will read it again & Tell others. Thank You!

Anyone who lives with a chronic illness has an interesting story to tell. From getting the actual diagnosis (which often takes many years and several doctors), to dealing with the uncertainty every single day becomes, their journey along the chronic path always offer something to learn from. Julie takes us back to her teen years and explains major life events and her path to her eventual Lupus diagnosis. Not only was her path full of ups and downs, she offers amazing tidbits of advice through the book that made me have a few ah ha moments. I appreciate that through the hardest times, she never loses her faith. This is an inspiring book and I feel anyone who suffers from a chronic illness will find strength in her words.

First I want to say that I have SLE as well. I am very proud of this person for having the bravery to write a book with so much honesty and truth. I only have it 3 stars because its my opinion she has a wonderful skeleton...just needs more fleshing. And...there were some grammar issues that her publisher should have caught, but that's not her fault. I only wish there were more fleshing.
