These cards are useful! If you play a warlock, be warned, however, that some of the spells you choose may not be included. I was missing two cantrips (found in Cleric spellbook cards, and Xanathar’s spellbook cards) and as I level my Warlock, there will be more. There are builds that pull from other classes and builds that stay within the standard warlock spells. Just depends on the direction you take. If you’re like me, you might end up having to purchase additional decks to complete your Spellbook. Other than that, the cards are useful and of decent quality. They say “laminated” but it seems they just have a slightly thicker coating on them than a basic MTG or playing card. You can still bend or damage them if you aren’t careful. I’d recommend getting a little Spellbook with sleeves (Guile Design makes a good one) or using a card protector sheet with sleeves for the cards in use. They are definitely nice to have on hand to quickly reference your spells.

Great cards, super easy access, makes running and playing so much more fun having them instantly on hand for verification.

The cards make it MUCH easier to manage your spells without having to constantly flip through a book or put long descriptions on your character sheets. The box they come in rather flimsy though, so I do suggest a card box to store them in.

These make the game so much easier. Tracking spells in the book is tedious and can slow down gameplay.

They are great I just wish they had a few more types of cards. For example they do not have any cards for Eldritch Invocations.

These were so useful, I bought a second set. Now my daughter (who always plays a wizard) has her cards, and my NPCs have their own. Saves a lot of time- no more flipping through 40 pages looking for info, when all the spells you prepare fit in your hand.

I just received my spell cards and found, when searching for the spells used by my arcane trickster, that my set at least was missing both disguise self and chromatic orb. I haven't looked through all of them, but another review says the set does not include all of the warlock cards, so I'm extremely disappointed

at least one card (witch bolt) was missing

I have owned a slow cooker for years. Occasionally I would make chili but other than that it sat in the cupboard. I have loved all of Robin Robertson's cook books. When I heard she had put out a new slow cooker collection I knew it would be a must have. My slow cooker now sits on the counter as I am working my way through the book. I have tried about 15 recipes; every single one of them has been amazing. The pizza I made 2 days in a row it was that good. The book is well organized and the recipes are easy to follow. Robin has introduced me to wide range of spices. I buy spices in bulk so I am not stuck with a big jar of any one spice and it is much more cost effective. You do not have to be vegan to love and enjoy this gem of a book. The recipes are very satisfying for any palate. I highly recommend this book.

To be fair, I have actually cooked only one recipe from this book. It was a little bland for me, but no big deal - I know how to spice things up. The problem is that I was hoping for some convenience (hence the slow cooker - throw it all in, come home, dinner is served, right?). There is SO much prep for nearly all the recipes in here, that I likely won't use it again. If I have to go through all that prep (including cooking foods partially BEFORE putting them in the crock pot), then I am going to just cook a dinner and be done with it, and not have to wait 4-8 hours more for it to finish. I was really looking for some quick and easy dinners, and that is definitely not available here.

I've had my slow cooker for about 5 years, and I never used it to make anything except vegan chili and some applesauce. It seemed to me to be a waste of cupboard space...until now. I have attempted to use other vegan slow cooker books, but with no success. Recipes always failed. I'm not sure it it was lack of recipe testing or what. Ms. Robertson's book has yielded nothing but excellent food. The times and quantities are spot-on, though I do tend to add a smidge more salt. I'm just a picky cook, though. Of the 7 recipes I've tried so far, I have had great success. She really knows how to balance flavors to make a dish taste great. I can't recommend this book enough! It has made me excited to use my slow cooker.

I usually make these in my Insant Pot on “pressure cook.” Most of my cookbooks have a few really great low fat vegan recipes, but EVERY RECIPE I’VE TRIED IS WONDERFUL with little or no oil. No photos, just tons of diverse recipes. I’ve been cooking out of it since 2015, and it’s still my go-to cookbook. Everything has lots of flavor. I’m a great one for fiddling with recipes, adapting them to make them better. I can make these right out of the book. Well done!

I don't usually make an effort of reviewing on Amazon, but I had to share with everyone how much I LOVE this cookbook. I've actually purchased it for friends, as its one of the easiest books, especially for those new to vegan cooking. Imagine this: saute' some veggies, through some more ingredients in your slow cooker, press start, and a few hours later, you have a HEALTHY, most flavorful, cruelty free meal ever. And, I'm not talking about recipes that taste super healthy and uninteresting. I'm talking about dinners that have my guests going for seconds and thirds (no kidding). These dishes bring leftovers that actually get EATEN (and stolen, for that matter!).The Seitan pot pie is incredible, I loved the Mac and cheese (the great thing is you can use that cheese sauce for other things too), I can go on and on. My husband is particularly fond of the Seitan stroganoff -- it's to die for. Keep in mind, you can cheat and buy your own seitan if you don't want to make it.I have used the heck out of the this book, and just for the 3 recipes I listed above, it's worth the purchase. I love all of Robin's books, but this is my favorite. Make your life easy, go healthy and make that slow cooker do all the work (and make your house smell incredible!).

I will use this book and do plan on making some of the recipes, I am however, very disappointed. There is not much that is ultra convenient about this book other than the fact that it cooks in the slow cooker. There are many instances where the recipes require a great deal of prep work. Also I am a person who needs pictures to compare my food to, it helps me in seeing if I am on the right track. There are absolutely no pictures in this book! And honestly, as a person that is slowly switching to veganism, I need that picture to help make me want to eat the food, not just take a guess at what will come out at the end. For those of you who can read a recipe and imagine what it will look like at the end than this is the book for you! I however am not one of those people. Also, you may want to be close to a whole foods store or something similar in order to pick up some of the ingredients. I sadly, am 40 minutes away from the closest specialty store. I do plan on keeping this book and using it, I just have to wrap my head around it more.

I've already made a handful of recipes so far since purchasing this gem a couple weeks ago. I wanted a book dedicated to crockpot recipes that were also vegan and has healthy options. This book delivers! Since I work and attend school, my time is short and sometimes I don't feel like cooking a meal at the end of the day. My favorite thing to do is prepare all the ingredients Sunday night then pop them all in the cooker before I head off for the day on Monday. Then, I eat the meal throughout the week.Simply awesome! I would highly recommend this cookbook. It makes meals and being vegan that much easier!

Man, This book was on point. Even tho there was extra material that wasn’t on the ASVAB I think this got you well prepared. I actually have been out of school for a few years & it was easy to understand & get thru to material. I scored fairly high on my test which opened more opportunities for me & I chose te exact job I wanted.

I love this book this far. If you are studying for the ASVAB for any branch this will help you out a lot!

Helped me pass the asvab. This was my only source of knowledge.

Pages 273 to 304 were missing, significantly limiting the usefulness of this book.

Great resource to help you prepare for the test. Lots of practice tests, information on what to expect, and even lists of jobs and scores needed for each branch. Well worth the investment. My son jumped 20 points in 2 weeks on his ASVAB.

By assuming this false dichotomy of sacrificing others to you or you to others, Lencioni misses a third approach that rejects sacrifice altogether: an approach that treats people as traders - voluntarily exchanging values to mutual benefit.For example, take his protagonist, Kathryn. She is hired to reform the leadership team and is well-compensated to do so. The company believes her leadership is good for the business. She accepts the position because she believes the job is good for her. She aligns her interests with the company’s. Both benefit. Neither subjugates nor sacrifices one side for the other. Yet, this stands in direct contrast to his own definition of his fifth dysfunction.Even with this (all-too-common) transgression, the rest of the book has more than enough value to overcome its shortcomings. Ultimately, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about leadership.

Lencioni shares simple truths about teams that should be more intuitively obvious to everyone. Yet, these things are very easy to grasp while being very difficult to actually practice ... without practice. This book focuses on what prevents a good team from forming and describe's what's needed. His companion book focuses on the implementation of these ideas but does not stand alone. If you only get one, get this one.The biggest problem I see is that both books are framed about C-level and top level executive teams. Very few mid-managers would have the leverage and ability to implement all of these principles at lower levels of the organization. It's definitely possible in some cases, but it would significantly more challenging. His principles are universally true, but his coaching is directed at executives.

I really enjoy this material, however, in my opinion, it's incomplete. It does an adequate job of explaining the 5 Dysfunctions, but unless you have some knowledge of many other tools and techniques, it does not offer any real methods for implementing the ideas. It's like they wrote this to introduce people to the Dysfunctions and expect them to go to the training to find out how to fix them. As a consultant and trainer, I have to supplement these concepts extensively to make them usable for clients. A good example is the first Dysfunction (Trust). While the book explains its importance and some basic ideas to increase trust, if you don't use an instrument such as the DISC, MBTI, SDI, or similar tool, you can't just improve trust. Different types of people have completely different issues in relation to overcoming trust issues.

This book has been on the “to read” list for quite some time now. I know it has been a popular book among managers for years, and I have enjoyed hearing Patrick Lencioni speak on several occasions, but for one reason or another, every year this book kept getting kicked down the list.Finally, I bought the book and was excited to read it. I opened it up, and a cold shiver went down my spine. When I saw that the first section of the book was titled “The Fable” and written like story, I rolled my eyes thinking I just wasted my money. But I pushed through, and to my surprise, I really enjoyed this book.I strictly read non-fiction. I have tried, but fiction does not appeal to me. I was tempted to read only the last section of the book which is in essay form, but I’m glad I didn’t. Lencioni can tell a convincing story while driving home the message without being cheesy or painfully obvious.I definitely think this book would be good for anyone who has to lead a team. Teamwork is incredibly difficult, however it can provide amazing results. I can attest that the five dysfunctions are real and a challenge to overcome.

This is standard reading for identifying dysfunction among team members. It's well written, very realistic, I think I've met each of the characters during the past 30 years of my career - and if the reader is open minded, they might learn more about themselves as a team member than anything else. It's eye opening insight if you work as part of a team, whether designated as a team or simply as a group that functions as a team. Simply reading the book will not solve the problems of a dysfunctional team, but will help expose a variety of behaviors embedded in humans that therefore exist in the dysfunctional teams to which they belong.

The author does an excellent job of presenting his team management philosophy through a fictional story of a real CEO hired to rescue a sinking ship. By putting the story first and showing principal's in action made them much easier to understand when they were broken down towards the end of the book.I also enjoyed how the author did not try to paint his style as an overnight fix. As the issues dealing with good conflict and team members holding each other accountable without a doubt will take lots of work to get a team to function in this manner. But its true it will be uncomfortable but as the book points out we all need to be headed in the right direction to be a standout in our industry. So yes its hard but in the end wouldn't it be worth it??

I just read this book for the second time, and Kaplan's subtle insights into national backgrounds of countries and statelets around the South China Sea sink in even more."We" project many erroneous motivations onto nations because we know little about their national backgrounds. Kaplan takes a chapter-by-chapter analysis of the political history of each country to give sometimes completely new outlooks on the past of each of these nations, from past colonizations by Europeans, historical dominance by China, or the influences of overseas Chinese in their trade patterns, going back a thousand years.He also contrasts cultural differences that have mattered today and in the past. He delves into the laid-back culture of the Malays and their almost contemptuous attitude to Time and getting things done, is contrasted with the driven attitudes of overseas Chinese and the Vietnamese, and the resultant dominance through history.He illustrates how the influence of Confucian values of family-over-individual made for clan success and wealth-building in those nations where these values had influence, and how non-Confucian values in the Philippines made the parallel clans hotbeds of corruption.Advocates of western liberalism will be taken aback by his analysis of how Malaysian and Singaporean autocrats created peace, order, and financial success not by spreading democracy, but by limiting it, and walks the reader step by step through the trial-and-error insights gained by Mahathir and "Harry" Lee as they guided the modern states of Malaysia and Singapore to wide citizen acceptance despite a lack of democracy.Kaplan contrasts the present economic and military differences that resulted from past interactions by the region with China. He explains why China today avoids confrontation with Vietnam, laughs at the Philippines, and cultivates/manipulates the connections to Chinese heritage of the overseas Chinese in each of these countries. He goes into endless detail of the impact of the "cow tongue" demarcation line off its southern coast, why China made 'peace' with the Vietnamese over its sea borders with them while going on challenging claims of other nations, and how and why China is spending the next hundred years patiently expanding its control in the Taiwan Straits and out to the "near islands", and building naval power to expand into and beyond the Ryukyus, Korean Sea, Yellow Sea...and on to the Pacific.The only critique I have is it was written in 2014, as economic doubts about continued Chinese growth were arising in the news, prompting Kaplan to suggest several times that Chinese military expansion may not be financially sustainable. This has since proved not to be true.

Robert Kaplan describes the South China Sea as being “as central to Asia as the Mediterranean is to Europe.” He discusses the impact of a powerful China on the countries bordering the Sea. China believes that almost the entire Sea belongs to them, and they have plenty of old maps to support their claim. China is on the rise and it is starting to throw its weight around. China has indicated that it would like the US military to pull-out of Asia and it seems to have aspirations to become a regional hegemon. China's behavior has triggered a regional arms race and Kaplan is predicting that South East Asia will become less stable. Kaplan does not believe that a war between China and the United States is inevitable, it depends on how the US responds. He wants the US to accept a smaller role in the region and suggests that America may have to rethink its Asian strategy.Kaplan does a good job explaining the issues. Firstly, the South China Sea is an important waterway. More than half of the world’s annual merchant fleet tonnage passes through the region. Secondly, it contains a lot of oil and China is desperate for new energy. Chinese oil reserves account for only 1.1% of the world total, while it consumes over 10% of world oil production. China believes the South China Sea contains more oil than any area of the globe except Saudi Arabia. Some Chinese observers have called the South China Sea “the second Persian Gulf.” Thirdly, China is seeking an Asian version of the Monroe Doctrine, and believes in “Asia for the Asians.” Fourthly, the future of the region depends on whether the US is willing to pull-back and allow China to expand its power and influence.Kaplan believes the South China Sea is to China what the Greater Caribbean was to the United States in the 19th and early 20th centuries. He argues that the United States became a great power, geopolitically, by dominating the Caribbean. He claims that the Europeans departed the Caribbean allowing the US to dominate it. He suggests that the US should consider reciprocating in the South China Sea. “American officials…must be prepared to allow, in some measure, for a rising Chinese navy to assume its rightful position, as the representative of the region’s largest indigenous power.”Kaplan has this back-to-front. The US did not chase Britain out of the Caribbean. Britain had several sugar colonies in the region and possessed the world’s largest navy. It maintained several naval bases and in 1895 it could deploy forty-four battleships to America’s two. Its ships went where they wanted, like the US today. America still thought of Britain as its major geopolitical rival at Bretton Woods in 1944. Like Britain in the Caribbean, the US has no intention of pulling out of the South China Sea.The US has maintained a military edge over its rivals since WW2 because of its superior technology. Most "experts" in the media advise us that for the foreseeable future, China’s military is no match for America’s. The US Navy still relies on 11 very expensive, but increasingly vulnerable aircraft carriers to police the oceans. However, China has been developing capabilities specifically designed to counter America’s power in the Pacific. The Economist reports that for over two decades China has been investing in submarines, air defense systems, ballistic missiles, and advanced cyber capabilities. The aim is to make it too dangerous for America’s carriers to operate close to China. The Economist suggests that the US may find it difficult to win a war in the South China Sea. After all, the US fought China during the Korean War and the result was a draw.The US has been the hegemonic power in Asia since WW2, but it now has a rival. America assumes the right to send its ships close to the Chinese mainland, and China views this as intimidation. Kaplan believes that the US is in relative decline, while China’s military power will continue to grow. He concludes that America will either have to change the way it operates in the South China Sea, or risk war.The US does not have many good options. Many of the states in the region depend on the United States for diplomatic and military support. It will be difficult to run away, as Ian Bremmer has advocated. Kaplan is hopeful that China will become a benign regional hegemon and won’t pose a threat to its neighbors. Kaplan is optimistic about China, he claims that China “however truculent, is no Imperial Japan.”

I had to buy this book for my son to read in 8th grade. It was well enough written, but the story it told simply wasn't that believable: a girl in Afghanistan disguises herself as a boy and supports her mother and family. It doesn't seem reasonable that this could happen given the strident nature of the Taliban; it really felt as if this was just a politically correct story. Don't get me wrong; I don't like the way society in Afghanistan seems to be organized, but wishing for something to be different doesn't make it so.

I had been hearing about this book for a while, but being from Afghanistan myself and growing up during this war I didn’t want to read a book that brings back all the horrible memories. I wasn’t ready and I waited. Finally, last week I decided that I am ready and I want to read this book. I have only finished the first book so far and it’s a beautiful story. The author has done a fantastic job. The book is super easy to read and understand. The story is of a young courageous girl who helps her family survive. This is the kind of book I would read with or to my daughter. It’s a book that shows how girls don’t need to wait for a Prince Charming to save the day. This story is proof that girls are strong, courageous, loving and kind. It proves that anyone can do anything and pull through hardships if they put their mind and heart to it. I recommend this book to anyone above the age of 8. I can’t wait to read the next 3 books.

Thoughts: I honestly can't walk two feet without being stopped and having this book recommended to me. This went on for about three years before I finally had enough of this and purchased the Breadwinner. And boy, am I glad I did. No one is more up for female rights than I am (I've probably written about a thousand female empowerment stories), and so this book instantly appealed to me. I loved I Am Malala, so hearing that this was in the same vein was immensely exciting.The Breadwinner is the kind of book that really anyone can read. Your age doesn't necessarily matter, since this book is written in a way that can transcend from eight to sixty year olds. But the writing wasn't what made this book impressive; the sheer character of Parvana herself, and the story she takes us along, is completely mindblowing. Sometimes, I had to stop myself and reread a section because it thrust me into disbelief. The things women had to go through under the rule of the Taliban - and STILL have to go through -.... it's just heartbreaking. This book serves not only to make us, as kids, aware of this difficult topic, but also spurs us to want to get involved. I was completely gripped the entire time while reading this book, and by the end of it, I was speechless. While, at some points, this is not the most engaging book per se, it is still a fascinating story that kids of all ages will enjoy.

I am considering teaching this book in a remedial English class. The great points about this book mainly are its readability and the fact that Ellis puts in enough detail germane to the action of the plot, but almost no extraneous description, or details for details sake. If you look into Deborah Ellis, she seems to be a woman of action, and has raised literal tons of money through charity organizations for Women's organizations in Afghanistan.The action is fairly quick, and I read it in one sitting. Your typical high school student will not complain as each chapter is short, and the pages turn quickly. You very early become endeared to Parvana, the protagonist through her interaction with her family members. As the book progresses you feel the pangs to continue.A well written book for young adults. Similar to The Kite Runner.

Eleven-year-old Parvana lives in Kabul, Afghanistan, under the Taliban, and this multicultural middle school book shows us what life is like when they're in power. She and her sisters can't go to school. They're not even supposed to go outside, and neither is their mother, unless accompanied by a man. Women and teenage girls must wear a burqa, which covers their entire body and face, except for the eyes.Parvana and her family used to live in a big house, but the daily bombing, which has gone on for years, has destroyed almost everything they owned. She is donating the royalties from this book to Women for Women in Afghanistan, dedicated to improving the lives of women there. Inspiring, heartbreaking and gripping. Parvana's story brings a level of insight and humanity to the struggles of living under the Taliban, and Ellis's writing is clear enough that 5th grader could read it. I had only read it for a class assignment, but now I need to read the rest of the series!

You are measured, prodded, and subjected to all the medical indignities familiar and unfamiliar to the elderly. "You must see Dr. Pollen, our Allergy Whiz, who knows every sniffle and itch that there is... He will check your reactions to thumbtacks and glue, catcher's mitts, leaf mould, and cardigans too. Nasturtiums and marble cake, white and blue chalks, anthracite coal and the feathers of hawks." It's clear that the process is going to be long, but much shorter than the bill. The blurb on the back says it all: "Is this a children's book? Well... not immediately. You buy a copy for your child now and you give it to him on his 70th birthday." Great birthday gift for those big birthdays (30, 40, 50, 60...)

She didn't find it particularly amusing at first sight. I guess she got bored enough to read it as she called to thank me. She found it 'very amusing.' This is high praise from a woman who makes Englands Queen look emotional, by comparison.Seriously my grandma doesn't even have rbf, it's just a black hole of human emotion. If you look her in the eyes you know how Harry Potter felt when the Dementors were attacking him by the lake.If she thinks it's funny, anyone will.

The book was printed wrong. The inside pages are inserted upside down, so you open the cover and you see the last page of the book first, but upside down. This is a gag gift, so I'll deal with it, but very disappointing.

Pure Seuss for the elderly. It made a great gift for my 80-something relatives, and my 70 year old spouse. I got a kick out of it, too, and I've never been a Dr. Seuss fan. It's an all-in-good-fun read with the same rhythmical lilt and imaginative illustrations we've come to expect from the eminent author who wrote the book on his 82nd birthday in 1986 after having spent entirely too much time in physician waiting rooms and undergoing medical examinations. Here's part of what he has to say about the "pill mill" to which the "obsolete children" who are the subject of this treatise inevitably get to imbibe: "I take three blues at half past eight to slow my exhalation rate. On alternate nights at nine p.m. I swallow pinkies. Four of them."

A great book for anyone who is advancing from one personal milestone in life to another such as, high school graduation, college graduation, moving into first home, marriage, becoming a parent, retirement, etc. I've given this book for each of the listed milestones to loved ones and it has been well received.

I gave these books to 2 nieces and 3 nephews that are all now mature (over 55) and will be pushing 70 shortly (as I am now) and wrote each of them a letter on WHY THEY WERE SPECIAL TO ME!!!.........They LOVED THE BOOKS but ESPECIALLY loved their POEMS to THEM!!!

Such a fun book. I gave it to my 88 yr old mother and she read it several times and had a good laugh over the writing and silliness in the book,

Upon recommendation of other Amazon reviewers, I bought this as a retirement gift. It would probably be better for someone experiencing health problems - routine, not serious ones. It is very clever in the writing and I may purchase one again for the appropriate situation.

I got this to add to gift for a 40th Bday, to make it a bit funny, not knowing what it’s about. I wasn’t impressed. I didn’t find it amusing, and changed my mind. I felt that it might be better as a gift for someone 70+Although I was looking for something funny, it felt like it wasn’t right. Let me add that I’m a Dr. Seuss fan. Book had no print problems and delivered clean, I damaged and fast.
